    The Huka Challenge

    The Huka Challenge is a new off road challenge designed specifically for mountain bike riders.
    The Huka Challenge is a non competitive 70 kilometre mountain bike ride on a par with the iconic 160km Solo ride around Lake Taupo.

    The cost of entry is $80

    Huka Challenge will start from 7.15 am.  Times are recorded by transponder as riders cross the start and finish lines.

    Road Safety Campaign

    BikeTaupo together with the Taupo Distrct Council have launched an advertising campaign targeting motorists on our local urban and rural roads.

    The initial campaign was launched during the training weeks for the Cycle Challenge in 2004 and has been re-run every year during that time and the BikeWise Week and Ironman training times in February.

    Town Gullies Cycling and Walking Tracks

    Bike Taupo has initiated the development of Taupo's hidden gullies as recreational paths. There are quite a few undeveloped TDC reserves, which can be turned into landscaped, safe cycling and walking routes. Those are linking residential areas with schools, shops and the lake. Maps can be downloaded from here.
