The Hivepass app allows riders to join and renew membership with Bike Taupo and keep up to date with the latest club news. Proof of membership is required for riding in permit areas.

Please note that the App is a completely separate system to our old membership database so all members will NEED TO CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT using the app.

The App is designed to be used on a mobile device such as a phone or tablet but there is also a link below to allow you to join on a computer. Please note, if you belong to another organisation that uses the Hivepass platform eg trails Wellington, then you will most likely already be logged in to Hivepass and will need to choose ‘Join Other Organisations’ on the side menu and then select ‘Bike Taupo’.

Your membership on the app will expire 12 months from date of joining, you will receive an email from Hivepass to renew your membership when it expires.

Join by downloading our App from the App Store or on Google Play (recommended) or join without the app on any device:

By Joining Bike Taupo you are supporting a vibrant community group, a bunch of volunteers who get stuff done! Bike Taupo is a well respected organisation in the Taupo District. We work with local council advocating for all things cycling, we get kids on bikes, we look after our environments and we’ve built (and maintain) over 200km of cycle trails for all to enjoy. We are working to create a fantastic culture in Taupo, building a network that people with a sense of adventure can relish. This all came about from a bunch of nutters who just love to ride bikes!

Tips for Getting Started

Once you have successfully downloaded the App to a device or opened the computer friendly link you will first need to create an account. Once your account is set up select ‘BECOME A PAID MEMBER.” There will be four options for becoming a paid member:

Adult membership (1 membership for 18yrs and older)
Junior membership (1 membership for 17yrs and younger)
Family membership (2 Adults and up to 6 juniors)
Enter Family Code (to be used by your family members to add the App to their device. See notes below.)

Family Membership Tips

When joining as a family you will be asked to select the number of family members for your membership and once you have completed the process and paid, you will be given a unique Family Code.

The Family Code will show on your home page once you have completed your membership. Your family members will need to create their own account, either on your device (log out and get them to log in again) or download the App to their own device to create their own account.

To add the membership to their device, click on “BECOME A PAID MEMBER” first and then select “Enter a Family Code.” No additional payment will be required.

Can I just log in to the App using my email address and password from the 2020 membership?

You will need to sign up to a new account on the App. You may use the same details when you sign up, but you need to start with this process.

What if I already use Hivepass for membership with another organisation?

If you belong to another organisation that uses the Hivepass platform eg trails Wellington, then you will most likely already be logged in to Hivepass and will need to choose ‘Join Other Organisations’ on the side menu and then select ‘Bike Taupo’.

I don't have a smartphone, how do I show proof of membership?

If you don’t have access to a smart phone, you can use the compute link to create or renew your membership.

How do I show proof of membership?

Annual Members

If you are an annual member when you join or renew you will be posted a tag to attach to your bike. We recommend you cable tie this under your seat, this provides proof of your membership and is visible to our track crew and staff who check bikes. This also applies to runners/walkers, but perhaps not attached to your seat!!

Visitor Members

If you are a visitor please ride with your phone so that you are able to show you have a visitor membership via the App. We suggest taking a screenshot of your home page to show when you don’t have reception or credit. In addition, the App works with no internet connection if it is left open in the background and has been opened while you have an internet connection. You can switch pages etc. and the permit will still be there. Offline capability coming soon!

We have two adults and three children. One of my children is 18 years old. Can they be part of our family membership?

Unfortunately the answer is no. We are required to pay an access fee for all riders over 17 years old. Your 18 year old will need an adult membership. The family membership includes two adults only and up to six children.

Do I need a membership for each bike?

No. The membership is personal and is assigned to one person, no matter what bike you are riding!
