Loop Tracks

If you are unfamiliar with Taupo rides, simply choose a colour coded course and just follow the arrows - too easy! There are five colour coded loop tracks that all start from the main carpark at the Hub, suitable to all abilities.

Loop Track A

Trails: Inwards goods > Tourist Trap > Wrong address > Return to carpark

Estimated time: 30 mins - 1 hour

Distance: 6.7 kms

Description: Up to Grade 2 single track trails. Easy fun flowing tracks suitable for family, children and novice riders.

Features: No steep climbs, not technical, beginner orientation to the Park.

 

Loop Track B

Trails: Inwards goods > Tourist Trap > Scragg’s > SH > Fun > Zip > Return to carpark

Estimated time: 45 mins - 1.5 hour

Distance: 12 kms

Description: Up to Grade 2 /easy Grade 3 single track trails. Fun, flowing trails suitable for family, children, and riders with reasonable skill level. Short, steeper climbs.

Features: Scraggs trail features some structures, jumps, and drops; these are all rollable with B lines.

 

Loop Track C

Trails: Inwards goods > Tourist Trap > 2nd Piker > Through carpark > Hammer it > Tank stand > Kinder grinder > Mr/Mrs/Mistress (to connection) > Outback (1st part to bridges) > Zee Zee top > Megalicious > Slalom > Connection > Incline > Coaster (Back to carpark) > Tourist trap > Wrong address > Inwards goods > Return to carpark

Estimated time: 1.5 hours - 2 hours

Distance: 21 kms

Description: Up to Grade 2/easy Grade 3. Suitable for intermediate riders with good skills.

Features: Narrow single track in places with some steeper side drops. Waterfall on the Mistress Track. Fun, flowing downhill with some shorter, steeper climbs and longer climbs. Coaster and Megalicious feature berms and rollable jumps. Great views over the Park at the top of Megalicious.

 
 
 

Loop Track D

Trails: Inwards goods > Tourist Trap > 2nd Piker > Tank Stand Up > Tank Stand Down > Outback > Steamfields > Outback and Beyond > Zee Zee Top > Dier Straights > Waipuwerawera > BBC > Bumble Bee > Zip > Return to Carpark

Estimated time: 2.5 hours - 3 hours

Distance: 31 kms

Description: Up to Grade 3 and Grade 4 trails. Suitable for intermediate and experienced riders with a good skill base.

Features: This is a ‘real journey ride, old school XC trails’! Narrow single track with steeper climbs and flowing downhills. Features bridges, narrow boardwalk and great views over the Wairakei steam pipes. Please note that Waipuwerawera is a narrow track with steep drops to the side, please ride with caution and enjoy!

Loop Track E

Trails: Cafe Track to Huka Falls > Rotary ride > Huka Falls to Aratiatia > Cross bridge (veer left) > Aratiatia Loop > Turn left into Wairakei Resort (through squeeze after bridge on main road > Follow resort track and blue markers back onto Karatoto Road > Gravel path alongside road back to the carpark.

Distance: 18 kms

Description: Up to Grade 2 single track trails. Easy fun flowing tracks suitable for family, children and novice riders. Few short, sharp climbs and longer flat sections.

Features: Stunning views over the Waikato River and Huka Falls. You will ride/walk over the Huka Falls bridge to access the track on the other side, please take care (and photos!) You will ride under the ETA bridge. Plenty of places to stop and admire the views. Check the dam operating times before you go if you want to see the river release at the Aratiatia Dam bridge. You will ride next to and over the Hot water stream as you traverse around behind the Wairakei Resort, it’s HOT! Please also be aware this is a 2-way track and is also a popular walking/running track. Share with care.
