A few words from Pete!
It’s been a busy year for us getting back to normal track wise.
Even though it’s been a year since we reopened Craters Mountain Bike Park there was still a lot of work to do to get the whole system back to where we wanted it. One the frustrations of the cyclone was that we had to put off some of the planned improvements within the track system and so it was great to finally improving the zig zag on the Rotary Ride and also tidy up the Aratiatia track. We still have some more improvements to carry out on the Rotary Ride but have to wait until our finances allow.
Cath has been out and about teaching kids flat out but half way through the year we had a big issue with the engine in her van. As we were trying to figure out how we would fix it, our good friends at Contact came really went above and beyond and paid for the engine rebuild! It’s humbling how much help we get from all sectors whether it’s financial or volunteers helping on the tracks and events, we could not operate without them.
The Huka Trapping and the Greening Taupō volunteers are out there weekly cleaning up the pests cutting the weeds which all goes to making our track system a better place to ride and enjoy. This is all part of our 5 Ts philosophy which is Tracks, Trees, Traps, Tamariki and Transport. If we keep working on these we together make Taupō a better place to live.
From the Bike Taupō Committee, we wish everyone a Merry Xmas and Happy New Year and please get out there and enjoy the tracks.
Cheers Pete
