Bike Taupō 2025 AGM

Dear members,

This newsletter is to advise you of the upcoming Annual General Meeting of the members of Bike Taupō.

The details of this meeting are as follows:

Date: Tuesday 1st April 2025

Time: 5:30pm-7:00pm

Place: Taupō Sports House - Taupō Sport House - 39 AC Baths Avenue Taupō

The new constitution introduces significant changes to the governance structure and operational framework of the Bike Taupo Advocacy Group Inc. These changes are aimed at ensuring continuity in governance and aligning with legal requirements. 

The most notable updates include:

• Committee Structure & Appointments

Four committee members will now be appointed by the Mayor and the local Member of Parliament.

The remaining committee members will continue to be elected by the membership.

• Appointment of the Chairperson

Instead of being elected, the Board will now appoint the Chairperson, which is a shift which is a shift from that role being voted in at the AGM.

• Governance & Compliance Updates

Adjustments have been made to ensure alignment with the Incorporated Societies Act 2022, particularly in areas such as dispute resolution, financial oversight, and compliance requirements.

These changes also reflect the value of assets managed by the society and agreements with both Local and Central Government regarding funding and maintenance.

• Dispute Resolution Process

The constitution now includes clearer guidelines for handling disputes, ensuring a structured and legally compliant process.

These changes are designed to create a stable and accountable governance framework, supporting the long-term sustainability of Bike Taupo’s activities and commitments.

There will be light refreshments provided and plenty of parking available.
