Melissa hangs up her helmet and we welcome Bria
As we draw closer to the end of the year, we have some exciting (but also sad) news to share….
After 10 incredible years of ‘getting it done’ for Bike Taupo, Melissa is leaving us to go ride her bike 😊 Over the years Melissa worked tirelessly to bring everyone together no matter the task, no matter how big the challenge was, she had a clear vision of what we were trying to achieve, and Melissa always did it with a big smile.
Keeping the Bike Taupo wheels turning is a tireless job, from coordinating membership forms, funding applications, customer support, sponsorships and of course the biggest event on the Bike Taupo calendar, the Craters Classic! We say a HUGE thank you for all the successful Craters Classic events that were organised over the years, you have some big shoes to fill!
There’s no way we can ever forget Melissa's commitment and hard work as we will continue to ride past one of her biggest achievements, the visitor map board! Every day we have visitors checking it out and riding those loops, all thanks Melissa’s hard work.
Here’s a few words from our newly retired cyclist 😊
"I would like to thank all the great people I have met over the years and big thanks to BT for some fantastic experiences and learning curves! I have totally enjoyed my time with BT, our committee work tirelessly to ensure we keep the wheels rolling in Taupo.
I would particularly like to say BIG thanks to all our Partners, Sponsors and volunteers who support our organisation and have made such a difference for us over the years. We are so fortunate to have some great people living and working in our community.
Upon hanging up my helmet I will be passing the pump over to Bria Jackson who is going to do a great job filling the role of administrator. Bria comes into the role with a strong organisation and communications background, she also works in the health and fitness industry. Bria lives in Taupo with her partner and two young children and is a keen mountain biker and loves the outdoors.
Thanks for the great times and see you on the trails"
Cheers, Melissa
