CRATERS CLASSIC UPATE - 25/2

As you know, we made a very tough decision this week to cancel the Craters Classic event. This was not a decision made lightly, but it was a decision that was taken out of our hands when we were advised that the Mountain Bike Park would be closed for at least 6 months. We’ve had some queries about ‘why so long?’ The damage is hard to comprehend unless you’ve seen it, but the first word that pops into my head when I think of the park, is flattened ☹

 The work that is required is extensive, and for the most part will be done by forestry crews with large machinery and logging.

The other question we had was ‘did you consider alternative courses?’ the answer is most definitely. All ideas were considered but we are a small organisation and our resources will be heavily involved in the rebuilding of tracks to get the park open as quickly as possible. Ultimately, we just want to provide the best Craters Classic experience that we can.

A postponement date was also considered, but there were just too many unknowns at this stage and we felt the best decision was to give everyone a sense of certainty so people can get on with what needs to be done.

As a team we are really gutted and we know many of you are too, but we will be back in 2024 better than ever (event date to be confirmed)
