Have you experienced the Great Lake Trail?
Did you know you could be in to win a $200 Torpedo7 Voucher just by completing our survey?
In 2022 the Government released an evaluation report on the 23 Great Rides which were informed by user surveys (and other information sources)
Key findings of this evaluation included:
Over the 12 months from 1 July 2020 and 30 June 2021, almost 2.19 million trips were taken across the New Zealand Cycle Trail Great Rides network.
98.5% were domestic users.
27% of the New Zealand adult population has participated in a cycle tourism activity in the past year.
Estimated health benefits of $11 million resulting from trail use for cycling, such as improved sense of wellbeing and mental health; an increased appreciation of the natural environment; and physical fitness improvements.
Cycle trail users brought an estimated direct economic contribution to regions of more than $950 million.
All of these positive results will support ongoing investment from government, but also provide new and wider trail development opportunities.

These local surveys are also very useful for us here at Bike Taupō to understand what riders think of the trail, what works well and what could work better.
Information gathered from these surveys have meant we have been able to access funds for on trail interp panels and our new distance markers. It is also very good information to share with the likes of DGLT, DOC and operators to show how well the trails are doing.
How can you help us? Complete the survey…
If you have experienced the Great Lake Trail or planning too, then look out for the QR codes on the trail to complete the survey and be in to win a $200 Torpedo7 each and every quarter.
