Kawaka Bridge -up, up, and away…..

We recently undertook a bridge relocation on the Great Lake Trail .

The Kawakawa Bridge on the Kawawa to Kinloch section of the Great Lake Trails was damaged during Cyclone Gabriel. Bike Taupo received financial assistance from New Zealand Cycle Trails to replace the bridge and ensue that the site was more resilient to further weather events. The replacement bridge was put in place on 23 August 2024.
